Laura E. Stevenson joined Kresky Law in 2016 after having practiced primarily in the areas of commercial litigation and employment law. Ms. Stevenson’s business background fits in well with the high value and exceptionally complex domestic cases handled by Kresky Law. After having worked with major law firms in Atlanta for several years, Ms. Stevenson opened her own solo office, focusing on contract disputes, guarantees, check fraud, debt collection, trademarks, products liability, ERISA benefit claims, non-compete agreements, consumer credit protection, and civil rights (Title VII, ADA, ADEA, §1981, § 1983). Her clients have included local and national businesses, such as Boston Capital Asset Management, Mohawk Carpet Corporation, Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, Reliable Heating & Air, American Investment Bank, Applebee’s International, SchlumbergerSema, and Allen Iverson, former NBA player, now elected to the Hall of Fame. Since 1998, Ms. Stevenson has been rated by Martindale-Hubbell as a “Top Rated Lawyer in Litigation” for ethical standards and legal ability.
While maintaining a private practice, Ms. Stevenson also served as a Judge for the Magistrate Court of Cobb County from 1993 to 1996 and has presided as the Chief Judge of the City of Brookhaven Municipal Court from 2013 to the present. In addition, Ms. Stevenson has been involved in numerous bar organizations, including the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers. Ms. Stevenson was awarded GAWL Chapter President of the Year in 1998 for her service as President of the Cobb Chapter. She also helped found the Cobb Mediators Association, and was elected President from 1995 to 1997. Ms. Stevenson has authored several legal articles and spoken at numerous continuing legal education programs.
Within the business community, Ms. Stevenson has been a long time member of the National Association of Women Business Owners, Atlanta Chapter, serving as Secretary and as Vice President Corporate Partners. She is a member of the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce and has served on the Board of Directors.
Ms. Stevenson earned her juris doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law, and was the Recent Developments Editor for the North Carolina Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulation. She graduated cum laude from Davidson College with a Bachelor of Arts in economics, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Epsilon Economics Honor Society.
